21 February 2020 - Highweald Wine, a Sussex-based English wine producer, has announced the completion of its first acquisition, the award-winning Lake Street Vineyard.
Formally owned by Fox & Fox, Lake Street is situated on the Sussex High Weald, close to the historic village of Mayfield. Planted to classic Traditional Method grape varieties, Lake Street will continue to produce the finest English Sparkling Wine under its new ownership but will also extend its offering through the production of world class still wine in limited quantities.
Highweald Wine is a subsidiary of Highweald Beverages, which is supported through investment from alternative private equity investment firm Cadman Capital Group.
Commenting on the acquisition, General Manager of Highweald Beverages, Robin Langton said: “We’re extremely excited to welcome the Lake Street vineyard to our Highweald Wine portfolio. Developing our market share within this rapidly-growing industry is of great importance if we wish to operate at the forefront of the English drinks market. We are currently in the process of creating extensive plans to increase the output of the vineyard, making it a very exciting time for the business”.
Investment Director, Stephen Bayliss added: “The purchase of Lake Street supports our ongoing strategy to become a prominent, mid-market drinks company with strong and recognisable brands. We want to create enjoyment through great products and the acquisition of Lake Street brings us one step closer to achieving that goal.”
In a quest to further expand its market share within the English drinks market, Highweald Beverages will continue to seek complementary businesses, vineyards and land within South East England and beyond.
